Marilyn Manson Hospitalized After Stage Prop Falls On Him At NYC Show

Two giant pistol replicas collapsed on the singer during a performance Saturday night.

Marilyn Manson has been injured after a stage display collapsed on top of him at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom Saturday night. The show was cut short when halfway through singing his early hit, a cover of The Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These)," a prop made up of two giant pistol replicas fell forward and seemingly crushed the performer.
After the prop was lifted from Manson, the singer remained lying on the ground for several minutes, reports Rolling Stone. A rep later gave the publication a vague update. "Manson suffered an injury towards the end of his incredible NYC show. He is being treated at a local hospital," it reads. It is not clear what the extent of the injuries Manson has suffered are. However, several fans have suggested that he may have hurt his leg.
The Guardian spoke to Yousif Al Zaid, a 23-year-old fan who attended the show. “It happened in the middle of his song Sweet Dreams. He performed it and all of a sudden he climbed on to the two guns ... At end of the song he bent over holding one of the poles [on the prop] and tipped over. Then it all went silent and you could hear a pin drop. Everyone rushed to him and there were rumours he was dead. Then they brought out a stretcher and he was taken away," he said. "On my Twitter feed today people are saying he has only broken his leg or fractured his ankle, but there’s no official news yet. It’s crazy actually – when he fell they closed the curtain on the stage and dimmed the lights. They then escorted everyone out."
Some fans were able to capture video of the incident. Another has posted a picture of Manson being wheeled away on a stretcher.
Marilyn Manson has been cited as a major influence on Lil Uzi Vert, who commissioned a diamond chain inspired by Manson. The singer recently spoke of his relationship with Uzi in an interview with Zane Lowe. "So, I’m at this hotel and I’m having dinner with Rick Ross, who said his dream is to work with me. He ghosted me a bit. But the same night, I hung out with Lil Uzi after we had talked. And we talked a lot. He ghosted me also. I don’t know if by the time this airs, he will have still ghosted me," he said. Manson also collaborated with Gucci Mane, an artist he's publicly praised, on 2013's "Pussy Wet."
