Criticism has been mounting on Trump and his administration for their slow response to Puerto Rico, and for many, his attack on San Juan mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz after her pleas for help proved to be the last straw. After an emotional press conference yesterday, one where Cruz warned that the situation on the island might escalate to a "genocide," Trump slammed Cruz as "nasty," accused her of "poor leadership," while writing that "they want everything to be done for them."
This did not sit well with many of our most beloved stars, who quickly took to Twitter to express their dismay.
Lin-Manuel Miranda led the barrage of angry responses of the morning, writing, "She has been working 24/7. You have been golfing."
Lady Gaga wrote that it's clear where Trump's "poor leadership" lies, pointing out that Puerto Rico, as an U.S. territory, is America's responsibility.
Cher wrote that the president has never known "hunger, thirst, dirt," nor has he "watch a sick child die."
Also John Legend slammed president Trump for his response.
Evan Rachel Wood had three simple words: "This is disgusting."
Mia Farrow pointed out that Trump is "attacking people who are without drinkable water, food, power."
Billy Eichner pointed out that the president is going golfing this weekend, writing, "This blood will be on @realDonaldTrump's hands"
Seth Rogen replied to a post Trump wrote for this weekend's Yom Kippur. Rogen, on the other hand, wrote, "The Jews don't need your stupid thoughts, go help Puerto Rico."
Also Chelsea Handler tweeted about the dire situation in Puerto Rico in general, writing, "Seems like someone hates Puerto Ricans."
Alec Baldwin, Trump's most famous impersonator, Tweeted from the account of his and wife Hilaria Baldwin's foundation. He wrote, "When Trump is convicted, I hope he serves his time in a prison in Puerto Rico."
Niece Hailey Baldwin echoed a similar sentiment.
Gabrielle Union responded to a photo of mayor Cruz waist-deep in the water during rescue efforts, writing that this is "what real leadership looks like."
This follows after last weekend's outrage among stars, athletes, and politicians alike in regards to Trump's feud with NFL. Watch this space for more.
