Beyoncé Remixes “Mi Gente” With J Balvin and Willy William for Hurricane Relief

Attention, Beyhive: New Beyoncé music is on the Internet. Announced in a rare Instagram story, Beyoncé has teamed up with Colombian artist J Balvin and Willy William on a remix of their huge reggaeton hit, “Mi Gente,” to help the victims of the natural disasters that have rocked the Western Hemisphere in the last few weeks. Crucially, all proceeds will go to help the victims of hurricanes Irma and Maria, and the earthquake that devastated Mexico. She joins the ranks of other celebrities who have outpaced politicians with their level of relief commitment.

On her website, Beyoncé wrote, “I am donating my proceeds from this song to hurricane and earthquake relief charities for Puerto Rico, Mexico, and other affected Caribbean islands.” The song release comes with a compilation-style video for the remix, featuring dancers jamming to “Mi Gente” and a still of a denim jacket airbrush-painted with the names of J Balvin, Willy William, and, of course, Beyoncé. After the announcement, Queen Bey linked to a page on her website listing the several charities and relief efforts inside and outside the U.S. that will be receiving the proceeds. Accordingly, she sings in both Spanish and English on the track.
